We are all guilty of taking our smiles for granted. After all, we were born with them, and they are such a natural part of ourselves, not just in the physical sense but also a part of our personalities. Beyond just looks, a full set of teeth is important to our overall oral health, as one gap in your smile can cause a shift in the rest of your teeth and leave you more susceptible to gum and periodontitis disease. Thankfully, at Neal Edwards DDS, Dr. Neal Edwards can provide you with the latest dental implants to help complete your smile.
Dental implants consist of two parts. The first is a bio-compatible titanium (or, in some cases, zirconia) screw that’s inserted directly into your jawbone. After placement, the screw will begin a process known as osseointegration, fusing with your jawbone to create an ultra-strong foundation. The second part of your implant consists of a porcelain crown that screws into your implant.
Implants can also support dental bridges and dentures to create stable, permanent prostheses.
While dental implants can undoubtedly have your smile looking as good as new, there are also benefits, such as:
Most people qualify to receive dental implants, with only a few exceptions, such as those dealing with periodontitis or gum disease or whose jawbone isn’t strong enough to support the implant. The best candidates for implants include:
Some dental insurance plans may provide partial coverage, and even a few offer full coverage. It’s important to check with your provider to see what kind of coverage you have for implants.
If your insurance does not cover implants, Dr. Edwards provides a payment and membership plan at a reasonable price.
